Loan without Co-signer (Please help)

I need to take out a loan without a co-signer, and being an international student--do not know whether I could get one--it seems pretty impossible when you have little credit history. Is there anyone who knows some information about this?

I want to take out a loan to support myself for undergraduate study for a year--and then go onto dental school for another four years--all on loan without a co-signer.

How should I proceed? If anyone has any advice whatsoever about this--I would be ETERNALLY grateful.

NYU does have some sort of collaboration with Citibank which allows you to get upto 40k per annum without a co-signer if I remember right. It's at 6% int. I have no idea if any other college offers a similar deal
