I was asking a student if there were programs for FP doctors graduating from WVSOM that might help with the large out-of-state tuition costs. He told me that the real concern would be getting enough loan money to pay tuition and living expenses for a family. As a single student he just gets by.
Will loan maximums be higher for me since I have a family and three kids or does it not matter? I had always thought that there was plenty of loan money available and that the main thing to worry about was not taking too much and owing 300k when you get out. Any families with kids that can help me on this? Any going to WVSOM and paying 40k a year!

Well, I do not attend that medical school, but I can let you know what my school does...

My financial aid is increased to cover one-half of the cost of daycare (for single parents it covers the full cost of daycare) but otherwise I GET THE SAME FINANCIAL AID AS EVERYONE ELSE. My husband works as a public school teacher and if it were not for his income we would have problems getting by. I know of a couple families where the mother stays at home with the children - but I do not know how they balance their finances....I would definitely call the financial aid office at your school.
