OK, OK, I know there are a billion forums dedicated to letters of intent/interest, but it's that time of year again, right? So I thought I would offer some encouragement to folks who are considering sending one -- I was placed on the alternate list at Berkeley JMP a couple of weeks ago, sent a letter of intent last week, and got an acceptance call from them today! :D I can't guarantee that the LOI did it, but it was pretty fast turn-around. And it definitely didn't HURT.

    Congrats!!!

  4. Congrats! The letters didn't have as much effectiveness for me, but still some...
1 Letter of intent=outright rejection (most were either accepted/waitlisted)
5 Letters of strong interest: 1 acceptance, 2 waitlists, 2 TBD

Congrats! I sent a LOI after getting waitlisted a few months ago and I'm still waiting for the acceptance...

Btw, what is Berkeley JMP? The link in your signature does not work.

It didn't work because the parenthesis at the end also got linked. Try this:
