Hey team SDN. I was curious if some could help me out. I need to make a decision about Roseman or LLU. I am not SDA, but I absolutely love LLU. I also love the academic mentality of Roseman. As far as clinical experience goes, I lean to LLU because it is well k own and established while Roseman just started their clinic this year. Price wise both schools are comparable, but it is cheaper to live in Utah that So Cal. I am from So Cal, but go to school currently in Utah. What do you all think?

Roseman is a bit more. But it is cheaper to live in Utah. So they come out to both be about 75-80k a year (including living expenses for a small family of 4).

I have a friend that goes to Roseman and he told me that their tuition and fees were 74k this year, so unless you are going to live on 6k Roseman is more expensive than you are thinking. Great school though, only has good things to day about it.

LL and the surrounding small cities in San Bernardino are pretty cheap. Factoring in tuition, I think LLU is a better bet. The area is nice, and you're relatively close to LA and Orange County, should you wish to get away on the weekends.

If LLU finds out you drink alcohol, they will expel you. At least that's what I recently heard. I live nearby and work as an engineer in the area (applying to dental school myself this year for 2014). I'm not sure how they would find out, unless you went out with other classmates and one of them happens to see you having a beer while out and "reports" you.

Not sure about your denominational beliefs, but they also have some profs that require prayer before each class, and there's a mandatory church attendance each week.

Personally, I find it hard to fathom good scientific troubleshooting being taught at an institution that believes that praying is the solution to all problems. But then again, that's just me.

Good luck on your choice!

Your dad was assigned to my group for a while and I learned a lot from him. He's generally well liked by most of the students. I always made an effort to find him and talk to him on the days he was there.

You made an excellent choice! LLUSD is not perfect and some things will drive you nuts, but the quality of education will make you, in just about every respect, a very good dentist.

Dress code for class is scrubs or business casual. No shorts, jeans, t-shirts.

I go to BYU right now. I don't drink alcohol at all and just about each class starts with a prayer. Reasons like that are one of the reasons LLU became my top choice. I personally have found that unifying my faith with science is a way better approach than trying to separate the two. I know that is not for everyone, but in attending BYU as a Christian sure has increased both my scientific education and my faith... But then again, that's just me.
