When I was in Grenada, there were lots of people that hung out alone - either by choice or by consequence. However, people have such varying schedules - that might have just been an open moment.
I always tried to talk to the people that were alone; often, I found some very interesting people, who just didn't do the whole social thing.
One thing about SGU (which I'm sure extends to Ross, but I don't have enough experience with AUC) is that, no matter what language you speak, you WILL find someone else who speaks the same language! That can be very comforting.
