Ugh...so here's the deal... 😕

I just graduated from UCI and am now on a job hunt during my year off while I apply to medical school. I cannot do benchwork because I just plain suck at it, which is why I am looking for something with clinical experience or patient-contact.

I've looked for jobs at UCI, UCI Med Ctr, St. Joseph Hospital, Hoag Hospital, and CHOC. I have even looked into Teacher's Assistant positions at various school districts w/- luck.

I need a job ASAP since I know secondaries are just around the corner. If you have any leads, please let me know. [email protected]. Thanks.

PrincessCKNY: i just quit my job at the UC Davis Medical Center and they are currently hiring to fill my position. but, i am guessing that you are looking for something in southern cali? anyways, if you are interested in the job posting just send me a PM. 🙂

princess, do you have your emt cert? if not, you can get go through a 15 day course with ucla.
i noticed you're looking at teaching assistant jobs. if you take the cbest and have a bachelor's degree, you can substitute teach. both of these take a little time to complete, but you should be well on your way to getting a job before the bulk of the secondaries, at least from what i hear, come around.

Yeah, southern california would be ideal. However, someone just emailed me w/ a position in UCLA, which I think I can deal with.

Thank you so much for the offer though. Thanks to you too pocwana. Everyone has been so helpful. Is the CBEST the same test you have to take to be a substitute teacher?

yes, the CBEST is the test you take to substitute teach or teach full-time.
good luck at ucla!

The CBEST allows you to substitute with just a bachelor's, no teaching credential required unless you want a full time position. It's also a super easy test.

Oh no...the position at UCLA does not look promising, but who knows?
