I am a second year resident looking to pursue anesthesiology in the future.

I am seeking to fill a CA-1 position in July of 2018 or 2019.

I have already completed preliminary IM year, current finishing PGY-2. Great clinical, excellent Step 1 score, and numerous publications in Oncology. Good LORs and no problems with current program. US citizen.

I went through this over the last year. It is a big gamble, but if you are sure that this what you want to do, talk to your program director. You will need their support. Start trying to network. Does your current program have an anesthesia residency? If so, that is going to be the easiest way. If not, schmooze with the docs in the anesthesia department, they may know people that might be able to fascilitate things.
