There is just too much opinion out there regarding what to use to improve on CARS.

I hear the Kaplan book is not that great. I am using the Kaplan set for my content review and I want to use a supplemental resource for CARS. What is the absolute best product to get besides the AAMC review?

As you apparently already know, there is no such thing. CARS is so specific to the MCAT that the only people producing the "absolute best" product are the AAMC people who write it. Maybe someday one of them will go work for one of the prep companies.

Until then, all you are going to get are rough approximations based on what the people creating content for the third parties THINK are CARS clones. But, they don't have the formula to the secret sauce, so they aren't. Opinions vary based on what people like, so there is no definitive answer to your question. Sorry!

I didn't have the time or patience to scour the earth looking for this, so, besides AAMC stuff and UWorld, I just used random third party FLs from TPR, Kaplan and Altius. They weren't great for CARS, but honestly, nothing is.

Agreed, I would suggest Jack Westin as well, some of his free passages for CARS are pretty good but AAMC material is most representative.

Also agree that no other CARS is like AAMC, but if you need more practice, I found Khan Academy’s passages quite good, the best of anything besides AAMC. Third party test prep CARS was always bizarre, especially NS and Kaplan. I actually stopped doing CARS on the NS practice exams because I thought it was detrimental.
