I apologize if this has been talked about already, but I was wondering if anybody knew about letters of recommendation outside of general surgery, like neurosurgery. I'm deciding between neurosurg vs. general but can't do a neurosurg elective until August, when I'd ideally like to get a LOR as well. In other words, will a LOR coming from a neurosurgeon not be as good as one coming from a general surgeon if I decide to go the general surg route? Any input is appreciated!

First, don't worry about this. The computerized ERAS application allows you to use muliple letters and send a different selection to each and every program you apply to. Therefore you can send GS letters to GS programs and other letters to other programs.

Second, I'm pretty sure NS has got it's own Match. Unless, that is, they're going to join the main ERAS process like ENT did. If so, then that's the first I've heard of it.

Thirdly, concerning sending non-GS letters to GS programs. I was going to do that but I asked my PD about it first. He strongly recommended that I shouldn't do that. I didn't, and things worked out fine for me. Good luck.
