Have all the LoR?s come from Radiologists? Which other MD can writte for radiology application ? IM, Surgery ??
Thanks

Recommendation letters can come from anybody. I would say two from radiologists who know you very well would suffice. Good letters from your chairman and PDs are especially helpful since Radiology is a very small field. I would get two others from the major rotations such as one each from surgery and internal medicine attendingz. But it would be better to get a letter from a ped attending who would highly praise you than a surgery attending who is only lukewarm. The Dean's letter incorporating all of your clinical evaluations takes a lot of the weight away from the non-rad recommendation letters.

So 4 letters aren't too many? I know you can submit up to 4 through ERAS, but I'm wondering if PD's get tired of reading them....anyone have any suggestions, 3 or 4?

As a side, I have two good LOR's from Radiologists, and one from a Medicine Attending. I just received another one which is good from a Surgeon and I'm debating on adding it to my apps, esp. since the Dean's Letter/MSPE isn't out yet....

Anyone feel free to chime in...

I think you should send it! But I have a feeling you are a strong candidate anyway. Good luck!

😉

Niggle, you are biased. But gracias! 😀

Anyone have suggestions, is it too late to add a fourth LOR to my ERAS file, or is three enough?

I'd appreciate any advice.

Another one can only help.......but will it arrive in time? It will take the writer at the very least to write it in a 3 days, another 3 days postage, and 10-14 days for eras to scan it. You're looking at nearly a month, at the very least, for it to be transmitted. I must add that I'm also getting a 4th LoR.....the writer plans to write it once I've completed my rotation (not until Nov. 1). To conclude, get a 4th one but don't rely on it making much of a differance.(i.e. landing you a spot at Hopkins)

Thanks. I actually already had the letter and it was already sent to ERAS too...it was just a matter of deciding to send it or not....

I decided to send it b/c it is from a surgeon i have done both gen surg and ICU with and I am doing a little research on the side with the surgeon too(in the field of radiology).....yeah...can't hurt I guess.

Thanks for your reply though.
