A post below prompted this. I have seen a number of my LORs after they were submitted to my letter service, and they are exceedingly positive, which I was psyched about. But then below someone said that ADCOMs are wary of overly positive LORs, like they are not as sincere or something... Any thoughts on this? I've wondered about all of this & the weight of LORs given that most applicants will ask for LORs from people that they know well and who will give a wholehearted positive rec, right? So aren't they almost all equal? Random LOR thoughts....

Hehe, I wouldn't worry. Be glad they are exceedingly positive. 🙂

Calm down. Breathe.

You have a positive LOR. Be happy. Turn your brain off and smile.

Like this. 😕 😀

Overly positive sure is a hell of a lot better than overly negative. 😀

Seriously don't freak out. They are already submitted. Whaddya gonna do? 🙂

someone gave me a negative LOR once....only once

I think overly positive in itself isn't bad -- it's overly positive for no concrete reason that you have to watch out for. hopefully your writer included some concrete facts and deeds instead of vague, generic, and therefore meaningless praise.

I don't think "overly positive" could possibly be a bad thing unless the LOR is poorly written.
