Love life in Med school?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It happens. But you need to be social. This means not studying every second.

It's called Med-cest...and about half of my class is guilty... for those not in the know, this means you date your classmates. I am engaged, so I escaped the med-cest phenomenon....

So everyone pretty much just puts out at first, very interesting. I like the hands on Anatomy course.👍

everyone who is single going into med school ends up hooking up with someone from school.

those who start school with a significant other break up during second year at the latest, unless they are married.

I have never heard of that term before. Is that like a portmanteau of medicine and incest?

Yeah, not everyone has heard of that. I think they taught it to us during orientation...ha ha...kidding...sort of.

It's like dormcest or hallcest. My #1 tip to incoming freshman was to always avoid the dormcest!

I'm probably way out of line here, but I've noticed you sure do comment on med school questions a lot when you haven't even applied let alone gone to med school....its annoying me.

does it also annoy you that he's 18 and will be in med school before you?

How are girls in med school. I need input on this. All catagories will suffice

if they're not already in a relationship? loose as a noose fit for a moose.

love you duke ladies 🙂

.. but seriously, no joke.

Classic. That needs to go in the yearbook....HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!

Very few people here have med-cest flings going on, there are a few couples, but the random hook ups are either 1) not going on or 2) people are very discrete. I believe the answer is more likely 1, because we all live in a dorm together (for the most part). People realize they can't have a random hook-up within the class without everyone knowing about it, so they are largely avoided.

i dun get it..so you are all celibate? : /

I wasn't referring to myself. My brother met his wife in med school. But I agree, there are some topics that I know nothing about, and try not to comment in those threads.

OK...I can respect that. I guess I'm just touchy from some advice I've been given quite quickly from people who are pretty much in the same position I am in. I appreciate your mature response to my not so mature comment😀

Not so much. I wasn't even close to ready for med school at 18... good for him that he is, but I'm ok the path I've taken

BTW nice name; does have any personal relevance? For your sake I hope not:laugh:

i hope i meet someone in school or else ill never meet anyone 🙁

No problem.

I don't know about the rest of the girls on SDN but I am going to be selling my body so I can pay off the interest on all the loans that I might and probably will acquire... lol.... JK... that is if I do get into med school. I already have a starting rate... LOL JK

Ditto. In a class of less than a hundred people, how plausible is that I will find someone though? Hmmm...

you're forgetting possible "uppergrads" or folks who are M2's, M3's, M4's ....hahaha...that adds up pretty quick....500 people to choose from

i'm just kidding guys, well sorta.

Agree. There are always a few hookups and couples but everyone in med school knows everyone elses business so lots of people prefer to date outside of the family. Between the folks who show up to school attached and those who don't want to date in the class, the pickings tend to be pretty slim. So if you are smart you will start scoping out the other graduate schools and hospital workers in the area. In a city med school there are literally thousands of eligible folks you can date who have no connection to your school. (You won't have that kind of time though).
Bear in mind that if you weren't hooking up in college things aren't going to get much better in med school. You still gotta have game.

hahahahhahahah that was a great post ^^^^6

"ya still gotta have game" : ) law2doc drops the bomb.

I once met a girl at camp named Syphillis. And that is NO LIE.

I'm thinking of naming my next kid Chlamydia...

unless it's a girl, then I will name her Syphillis, in loving memory of your anecdote

Sounds kind of feminine -- go with Chancroid and he will get beat up less.

that's a great idea! Then I can send Chancre and T vag. to the store to buy me more copies of the New Yorker...

Why are you asking this in here? Most people in pre-allo aren't in medical school, and virtually none have a love life either.
