Hello everyone, I'm applying for the fall 2010 entering class and
I was curious to see if anyone got into pharmacy school this year with a relatively low GPA(~3.0). could you post if you got in this year (2013) with a low gpa and what school you got into? thanks!

Hi,

Congrats! Those are great schools. I am graduating from UCSD this June so I am dreading the upcoming application process. I am just curious, are you a CA native and if you are, why didn't you apply to the other CA schools? Thanks and congrats again!

Bachelors expected, SFSU, Spring 2009, GPA: 2.9 🙁

Accepted at: UCSF, UCSD, Touro 🙂

Thank you. I decided to apply really late, so I missed the application deadline for most of the california schools. I've lived in San Jose or San Diego for all my life so it definately will be a big change. But in a way, Im definately looking forward to seeing the east coast. I hope I have time to see all the cities out there and see the US Open. 😛

As for the application process, its not too bad if you start early. If you have the opportunity to work on your essays and pharmcas applications, I would go ahead and work on it little by little now.

2.62 (PharmCAS calculated) cum GPA (did horrible my first 2 years)
3.75 GPA from last year, 3.6 from year before
Applied via early decision to Colorado - Accepted 😀
PCAT - 94th (composite), 91st overall
Lots of intangibles

WOW, I thought that UCSD didn't even consider people below a certain GPA cutoff.. props to you!

Congrats to extra07extra on her acceptance at UCSD, and I remember reading her posts about this a while back. Yea, I went to their open house session one night after my classes and I think it was the dean who said that a GPA of 3.5 is low (think that's the cut-off), so I didn't bother to apply there. He did say that 1/3 of accepted students were UCSD alums, but I thought I want to save my $100 and spend it on a school that I would have a better shot.

I got accepted to the University of Michigan. I had a 2.56 cumulative and a 2.78 science gpa. I got a 95 on the PCAT and did 4 years of undergraduate research in Inorganic Chemistry.

I know that my gpa is utter garbage. I just made sure to explain the reasons why and how I fixed them. I think getting my Bachelors degree and all the research helped A LOT to say the least.

Cumulative sGPA: 3.0 (bachelor's sGPA: 2.6, postbac sGPA: 3.7).

Applied in 2008:

Creighton Distance: Waitlisted

Applied in 2009:

Touro-CA: Accepted

I'm going to UCSF for class of '13. 🙂

I have a number of different things going for me--10+ years of work and volunteer experience in healthcare/pharmacy; former executive director of a nonprofit; and the 3.7 in my postbac was probably the biggest deciding point.

great thread guys, this shows that hard work and determination will get you into the school of your dreams! Admission committees do notice your recent achievements instead of automatically rejecting you based on mere numbers.

I need to refer my friends over to take a look at this thread.

thanks everyone for responding! it seems that a lot of people made up for low gpa's with pretty good PCAT scores (like 80+). im taking mine this August so hopefully all goes well. Thanks again and keep them coming! 🙂

Keep in mind most people with low GPA's will have their bachelors.
