Low Step 1/Better Step 2...Still filtered out?

I am looking for IM/FP.

IMG - with green card. Have a low Step 1 score (<80) and better Step 2 (95). Both first attempts.

3 US LoRs. 4 months of USCE, including externship at a top hospital.

A lot of IM programs have 80+ cut-offs on Step 1. Is there any point to apply to these programs? That is, will the positives of my app (higher Step 2 score, USCE, Green Card) help at all?

No way to know unless you know exactly how the program sets their filters (which you can't).

They can set them to:
Step 1 >X
Step 1 or 2 >X
Step 1 >X AND Some other thing you wouldn't think they'd filter on

So apply and see what happens. Again, applying is cheap, now is the not the time to try and save money.

Thanks..I thought as much given the million ways programs can filter.

I guess I'll just selectively apply to the 80 and higher score programs and hope for the best.
