What's the lowest MCAT score you've heard of someone getting but was still accepted into an MD program in the US?

You could try putting scores into www.mdapplicants.com and seeing. Make sure you check "Accepted" into "Any US Medical Program."

:luck:

If someone heard from someone who heard from someone who heard that someone got in somewhere sometime with a 19, would you really feel better?

You also have to take into account that this is a URM applicant, and hence AA may work in her favor. Who has stats on a majority applicant?

Trouble with me is, I don't see in color, everything is a uniform shade of gray. Imagine how much havoc it wreaks with my depth perception.

I know a girl with a 16N who got in, but she can suck a golf ball through a garden hose.

what are you going to do now? just barely get the lowest possible score on the mcat?

are you one of those people that asks what the lowest possible score is to pass a class? why don't you just try your best all the time?

Unless you've found a cure for cancer, I wouldn't be shooting for the bare minimum MCAT score. Happy studying!

What a jerk comment, maybe they did try their best, but their best is borderline and they are wondering if they have a shot?

IMO URM = 24
Majoriy = 27

Those are minimums

Bear in mind that only one person gets to the the lowest, and its a pretty safe bet it won't be you. Exceptions to the rule do not fare very well in the admissions game. You want to try to be in line with the rule. I agree with the prior poster who suggested that if you scored below 27 or something in that ballpark but very unbalanced score, you need to seriously consider a retake if you want an allo school.

It is too subjective to call.

I had a friend I did my post-bac with, she got a 25 and got in off the waitlist at UWash (her state school). She was a PA, non-trad with outstanding ECs.

So it really depends on the rest of your application and the school that's looking at you.

Actually, you are trying to flame. There is nothing wrong with this question, especially for someone who doesn't have 1000+ posts

OP, looking at MD Apps, there are a lot of people with scores 25-29 that got into MD/DO Schools. Here are some nice, complete profiles for you where the applicant applied to more than a few schools, and had some success getting into MD Programs.

You know, I know a Doc, that got really low MCAT scores, did great in school, was chief resident and was just named a top doctor by Washingtonian Magazine. Just something to think about.

What was your "low" score? To what do you attribute your acceptance? (extracurriculars? high bcpm gpa?)

I am an applicant with a low MCAT score and am struggling through this process for the second time...

For the most part, you never know who got low MCAT scores, who did poorly in med school, who just squeaked by on the boards. In all probability you have been to doctors who were not that impressive on paper, and they were probably quite skilled. If you make it through med school and residency, odds are you can do the job.

Food for thought -- Half the doctors out there were in the bottom of their med school class.
