I have my interview on monday at LSU New Orleans so I was wondering if anyone has already interviewed there and if you have any specific advise for me or examples of questions that I might encounter. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Search for LSU-NO in this forum and you should find acouple of threads on exactly what to expect.

My LSU-NO interview was very relaxed. Remember to re-read your EC and personal statement because a lot of the questions are derived straight from them. Additionally, if I were you, I would spend some time going over 1) What it is about you that will make you a good doctor? 2) What sets you apart from other applicants? You know yourself better than anyone else. Just try to relax and let the "true you flow". The staff at LSU is friendly beyond belief. They will not ask difficult questions to get you to stumble. They really try to obtain as much about you as you are willing to offer, for they will be the ones defending you when the committee objects. Moreover, before the interviews the dean really did a nice job breaking the ice and getting everyone laughing and involved. Even the student interviewer shared a lot more than I wanted to hear. Most importantly, try to relax because it really isn't anything to be nervous over right? (you have a job to do, and you do it) Beware though because time will fly! Before you know it you will be heading back to your car. GOODLUCK and BEST WISHES in your interview! :luck: :luck: :luck:

I'll be there on Tuesday. Thanks for the info.

Has anyone interviewed at LSU-NO during the last week of March and heard back? does anyone know when the committee is meeting?

Good luck to all of you during interviews and this whole waiting process.

I interviewed in Feb. and I haven't heard back yet. This waiting's the worst. I heard they will fill their positions by April 15th but that may be just a rumor, it was communicated to me by a friend of a student on the adcomm, so he may not have the full story. Supposedly they will meet somtime this week. Good luck to everyone!

I interviewed on March 22nd. There was an adcom meeeting on March 24th, but the cut off for being reviewed was the previous week. The next meeting is Monday, April 17th. I should here something by the end of next week. Good luck 🙂

Does anyone know how we'll be notified of any decisions? email or snail mail?

Today is D-Day, good luck!

It has been by snail mail...doubt they changed it.

Hey Jbeinven, for those who get accepted, is it a big envelope and those who get rejected, is it a thin one? What did the acceptance envelope look like?

(Still crossing my fingers.. c'mon LSU) Good luck to everyone.

Topa55, my acceptance letter was packed in a standard white envelope. They give you two copies of a two page acceptance letter so the envelope is pretty thick. Throwing some good luck Karma your way. :luck: :luck:

Thanks for the info on the letter, I'm hoping too. :luck:

Is it sent by certified mail or just regular mail? The reason I ask is I currently live in a FEMA trailer and I'm not sure the post office is delivering certified mail here (it may be held at the post office).

Good luck to everyone! :luck:

I really couldn't tell you if my letter was certified since it was torn into pieces upon opening. In retrospect, I believe the letter wasn't certified. However, I could be wrong.

On anther topic, how many people have received scholarships so far? I just got word today I was chosen to receive one. Just when I thought life couldn't get any better...

Mine came regular mail.

Congratulations on the scholarship! Did you have to do anything for a scholarship, or were automatically considered for one? I know in the "big packet" it said there was no application, but I'm just curious. 🙂

Thank you so much for that thoughtful post southerncomfort. 🙂 Well, application wise I did nothing. They just called yesterday and said they selected me to receive one. So I am pretty sure no application is needed. They really surprised me with that one though.

OK, I realize I sound pretty dumb asking if you did anything for the scholarship, then writing that the packet said there was no app. 😳 I just didn't know if you had specifically inquired about it, or what.
What a nice surprise though! 😀 Congratulations again!

On another note, is anyone applying for the prematriculation program? I know one other person interested in it. It's something I'd like to do, but I'm not sure I'd get accepted for it with my non-trad angle.

So I got a letter from LSU-NO today saying that "no action has been taken" on my application. They also stated that most accepted students find out b/n the months of Jan-June, so I'm guessing I may be waiting as long as till June. At least I wasn't rejected. Anyone else hear back yet? I interviewed the last week of March.

Good luck to everyone, and let's all try to stay sane during this waiting period.

Does anyone know if the class if full now? are the rest of us now put on the waitlist? is LSU finished with interviews? Any help is appreciated.

Hey freelow, yah I got a scholarship too which I'm pretty excited about. It was funny, they were trying to call my old pre-katrina number which obviously didn't work so I ended up getting the news via e-mail in the middle of the night. I let out this big woooop! and woke everyone up, lol.
