Can someone please explain to me how an increase in pulmonary venous pressure causes a decrease in lung compliance?

If pressure is too high some of the fluid gets into the interstitum. A sponge with water is not as stretchy.

Think about trying to blow-up a balloon filled with water (both potentially in the ballon lumen and throughout the surface of the balloon making it stiffer).
