My state school places students in particular campuses throughout the state partially based on hometown. If I lied on AMCAS and said that I live in my brother's house (which is very close to the campus that I wish to be at) and listed his county as my legal residence do you think there would be a way for them to find out? Would they care enough to look into finding out? I saw another thread close to this topic but that was about lying about your home state, which would seem to be much harder to pull off.

You shouldn't lie about anything on your application. Yes, I'm sure there are several ways they could find out.

Don't lie about anything on your app. It's not the way you should start your journey to becoming a doctor.

At least not lies that can be discredited. You can lie all you want about your motivations and your untraceable volunteer activities but grades? Address? No way.

Why don't you just change your address to your brother's location? If you're not going to be living at either place, what does it really matter?

That would be ideal, but how does one go about officially changing their address?

I don't know if this would really be a great idea. You should probably just go ahead and be honest, and hope that you get the campus you want to go to anyway. Realistically, it is a safe bet that no one will ever find out.

You could also try moving one of his utitilies under your name (cable or internet is easiest, plus you can take advantage of new customer invenctives). In my state that counts as proof of residency as far as the state is concerned for drivers licenses.

Although I seriously don't know how they would go establishing your residency by county unless your county has county taxes.

Don't lie about that.

Interesting.

I actually don't think I stretched the truth at all on my app. Maybe that would explain my 16 rejections. :meanie:
