Just starting M3 at US MD school

Step 1: 241

Going to go all out this year and try to honor everything and starting research in imaging, but insofar as step 1 is concerned, is it a deal breaker as an integrated IR applicant?

I would do everything to showcase your interest in interventional. Do well 3rd year especially try to honor in surgery and internal medicine. Try to do well on Step 2. Get some IR research done. Go to the SIR meeting and any IR symposiums you can go to and network. Get involved in an IR interest group. Join the SIR as a medical student member. Do some away rotations in IR. It is important to showcase your interest in IR and those are some ways to go about doing that.

SIR has a scholarship for med students to go to the annual conference. The IR community is small and rubbing elbows with people will go just as far as honors.
