Any practicing peds docs or current peds residents who use magnification? if so what mag level? I have a friend starting soon and we were wondering about it. Thanks in advance.

I use 3.5x magnification. Sufficient for endodontics as the kids have wide open pulp chambers which make things a lot easier. For everything else in peds you can get away with no loupes or 2.5-3.5x loupes but its all down to personal preference. The majority of the times the children don't sit still for long enough for loupes to be useful anyway

2.5x is all I know, it's what I had in dental school, and it's what I use now in practice (peds). I'd find it difficult to not work with them.

I’m not a peds, but I’ve been in practice for 16 years and I work with children a lot. I wear 2.5 and find it to be perfect. I wear them for pretty much every procedure.
