Maimonides has an entire department set up for osteopathic medical education, and has formed a pretty strong partnership with NYCOM and I believe is in NYCOMEC (the AOA residency programs operated by NYCOM).
Maimo is a community-hospital located in Borough Park, Brooklyn, a largely orthodox Jewish community (according to the community website, it's the largest orthodox Jewish community outside Israel). It has a ton of money and recently finished a brand, spanking new emergency center. Its claim to fame is having performed the first human heart transplant in the US in 1967.
Maimo has a formal affiliation with SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and has students from Downstate, NYCOM, Ross, St. George's, and other schools rotating.
Living in Borough Park can be expensive, depending on where you choose to live. If you live in nearby Bay Ridge or Dyker Heights, the rent is between $800 for a small, two-bedroom apartment to $1200 for a large three-bedroom apartment.
