    But your major gpa (if a science major) factors into your science gpa...so it kinda does matter in that case right? in other words, do med schools realize that there are some nonscience majors who will not have the opportunity to increase their science gpa simply because they are not taking upper div science courses (whereas a science major has more classes to buffer his/her science gpa)? Or do they care most about the gpa in the prerequisite science courses?

      Med school realize this; however, nonscience majors also don't have to worry about required upper-level classes bringing down their science GPA.
      You can always just take an extra science class.
