I LOVE YOU.....MY BEST FRIEND FROM HIGH SCHOOL!!!! YOU DESERVE THIS!

still in shock and happy delerious happy,
manic...veryvery manicmaven

congratulations, buglady!!! woooo hoooooo    i'm glad to hear vermont is accepting some deserving people 🙂

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm still in shock. For all of you who haven't received any feedback from schools...your time will come! After 2 rounds of the MCAT and not getting very high scores (my highest was a 24R), I thought I'd either have to re-do the MCAT for a 3rd time or re-apply...but no, Vermont likes me, they really like me.

Time to go wool-undewear shopping!!

Hey WAY TO GO buglady!!!
I can't believe that you are going to med school with your best friend from high school. thats un-freakin-real. I've never heard of that happening. congrats and good luck.

Manicmaven and buglady-

Your enthusiasm is most contagious. I was a little bummed from my waitlist yesterday but when I read this thread and captured a bit of your raw enthusiasm; I felt rejuvinated. It reminds me why I started on this path to begin with.

Thanks and congrats!!!

I'm really glad you posted your score, buglady. Mostly because I feel like there are a lot of lurking applicants on this website intimidated by the stats of regular posters and feeling like they'll never get in with a lower GPA or MCAT. Don't get me wrong everyone, buglady had an outstanding GPA and great ECs, but she also came from a not-so-well known undergrad.

She got interviews from schools around the country including a UC and has finally been accepted to her first choice. So for those who spend hours debating whether or not going to Yale will make or break your application, or stating that without a 3.5 and a 30 you shouldn't even try...take note. You can do this...you can stand out...you can get in.

Good luck to everyone who is doubting themselves at this point. Wooohoooo! Go buglady!

Yeah, it's a good feeling to be confident in myself again. I went for way tooooo long doubting myself and my intentions. Finally, I got a little redemption. My ego is no longer collasped. It's a bit more on the inflated side...😀 . No, but seriously, I do have to say that I strongly believe things are meant to happen for a reason. And if they aren't, it's still a great thing to believe in because it just helps you cope.

Yes, talk about coming from a no-name school. I think last I checked, my undergrad institution (Northern Arizona University--no, i didn't live in the heat....it SNOWED in Flagstaff) was ranked to be in the 4th tier. It's the 3rd state school in Arizona. Most people only know about ASU and UofA. Not a NAU. There's a joke about NAU standing for Not A University. I chose to attend this school because it was an awesome college town and I was so dang close to so many cool things: Grand Canyon, Sedona, Oak Creek (okay enough AZ propaganda).

So poop on the people who say you'll have trouble getting into a school because of your undergrad. It might hold you back from getting attention from some of the bigger name schools, but the schools that do pay attention are the ones that are worth pursuing anyway.

bug...
does this mean that we can't go out now? all high and mighty.... well, congrats... but, if you forget about those that liked you BEFORE you got some love from the schools, i'll cry, no- really, i will.

Hi Buglady:

I haven't been on SDN for long enough to say that I know you well, but it's wonderful to see someone nice acheive their dreams. Your story is a reality check to all those prating on about "which undergrad, which med school?"

Way to go! Maybe you'd post your whole story sometime? Or point me in the right direction.

Congratulations!

BE YOURSELF. If you really are excited about the school, it will definitely come out in the interview. I think I was extremely lucky to get the interviewer that I had...we had a great conversation about wanting to be in Vermont. His son just started snowboarding, so we had alot to talk about 🙂!

Good luck. Enjoy your visit, it's a beautiful place!!

GO CATS!

p.s. Joe-Joe! Another classmate....woohoo. Can't wait to meet you!

Thanks, buglady! I am totally psyched for the interview and for the school. It's always been one of my top picks and I can't wait to see the campus and Burlington!

Congratulations again and thanks for the encouragement!

Okay, so it was brought to my attention that some people thought manic and i are going to the same med school...i wish we were. anyway, when she said we're going to be doctors together she meant "we're going to be starting med school at the same time and finishing together". we're best buddies from high school and we have been planning our fantasy cross-country road-trip for awhile...we joked that we'd caravan to each other's med school...ANYWAY. I'm sure you all care, but i don't want you guys to think we're liar liars....

ANyway, we're hoping manic will get into NU, OHSU, Georgetown, George Washington or Tulane...I'm hoping something close to me in VT!

Okay, random post of the day is done.
