Marquette dental school seats

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Why dont you phone them and ask?

Why would you expect anyone on this board to have that kind of information?

Whoa! Easy there! It may surprise you what kind of info. people on this board have. It never hurts to ask.

Yeah ok, just thought it a bit reduntant. HD's best bet is to call that school for information. I bet they can be of great help.

So Sorry Hockey dude from HOUSTON? somehow I dont associate Hockey with anywhere but Dallas (NHL stars)

last year thery had 55 confirmed deposits by 1st week of Jan.

anyone know how the alternate list works at marquette?

Marq has about 50 spots for in state residents and about 30 for non-residents. if you are in state and on the waitlist, it would be hard for you to get in since there are many who like to go to their state school. If you are a non resident, the spots are limited to begin with!

Not really sure, but I got a letter in April that said I was on the alternate list and if I wanted to stay on it, I would have to submit $500. That was weird as hell, and so was the fact that I got on the list without interviewing. Needless to say I had already gotten into 4 schools in dec.

marquette only interviews in state applicants. Unless you really like milwaukee, there are schools that you could go to for a lot less and get equal or better education.

The new school is really nice - and its still being paid for but I have a feeling that alumni support is not real strong - many of the old guys have had negative experiences there and I will not donate a dime to the school. Here are my pros and cons of the school:

Pros

1. Milwuakee is a fun place to be in the summer - lots of festivals.
2. If you are into working out Marquette has a great facility - actually two gyms and one is just a block from the dental school.
3. Undergraduate presence - gives the campus a fun atomsphere - Starbucks on campus and lots of places to study other than libraries.
4. Early clinic exposure
5. Nearly everyone passed CRDTs, part 1 and part 2

Cons

1. Lectures are weak - Basic sciences are ok, but very easy in my opinion although you are adequately prepared for part 1. Clinical lectures are boring especially proths.

2. The Campus is almost in the ghetto - its not the worst part of the city but still lots of homeless people around.

3. You will need a vehicle because of satellite clinics which are situated in the ghetto. My classmates car got broken into while she was on block rotation.

4. $$$$$$ not worth it!

If I could do it again I probably would not really want to go there although it wasn't that bad.

No way in hell would I pay 500 dollar to remain on the waiting list. That sounds scandalous.

Tufts employs the same strategy!

Pay $$ to stay on a waitlist?!?!

That sounds kinda... I dunno... maybe... EVIL!!

I'd probably tell them where they can cram their waitlist...

but that's just me 🙂

Wow, I'm on the wating list but they didn't ask me to fork over 500 bucks. Does that mean you have a better chance? Or just the opposite? Not that it really matters, I don't intend on going there anymore.
