has anyone recieved the secondary?
Does anyone know when about they send out the secondaries?
Do edp's get them first?
Do they send email or snailmail?
Any and all info would be helpful. thanks!

Also waiting...I heard they're usually late with theirs...

Submitted 7/7, Processed 7/19... no word either, but I'm glad they're not expecting anything from me because I still owe ~4 secondaries to other schools. 🙂

All i know is that they look at all the early decision people b/f they even look at us. I haven't received UMD yet, and I haven't heard of anyone else who has. <Sigh> I think they are just SLOW.

Got UMD 2ndary 8/6/2004 via e-mail. Several Essays (~250 words each). Not too bad and well-priced ($70). Does anybody know if they screen before 2ndaries?

Bub-

Got mine when you got yours; no idea about screening.

Others-

I'm out of state, non-EDP, with invite to do secondary via email.

best,

dc

I'm out of state as well, and I received the Maryland secondary last week

According to the MSAR, all applicants receive secondaries this year.

yeah..no screening.. i received my invite on friday afternoon and submitted it on Monday..not that bad..some essays that i hadn't written yet... you have to wait on it though b/c they assign you a password to access it online.

~L :luck:

i got my secondary on friday too. thanks for all your responses. i hope to have it out by thursday, then, I wait!

Has anyone heard about Maryland's clinical years? I.e., how hands on are rotations?

I do not remember the questions exactly, but here are some that I do remember:
1. Have you done independent research? If yes:describe (I think 250 words max)?
2.Most relevant clinical experience. Describe.(250)
3. Most relevant community service/volunteering. Describe.(250)
4.What does it mean to you to go into this profession?(250)
5. Career goals.(350)
I think that's it. But correct me if I'm wrong...

basically.
except the limits are 200 words.
the essay about entering a profession is 300 words,
the essay abou career goals also asks about the inspiration of those goals. (300 words)

FYI:Just spoke to their office of admissions: interview invites will be mailed out by mid Septmeber. Their interview process starts last week of September.

Anyone thinking about the "long term career goals" question? Want to share their ideas...a little tough when I just want to write "get into medical school".

I'm writing about what I want to specialize in and why.

i wrote about medicine. if it would be any other profession i wouldn't apply to med school, right?

I think what UMD is looking for is some clue that the applicant understands the level of responsibility expected of any professional, whether an attorney, doctor, etc..., as compared to a job that you can just walk away from when you "punch out" at the end of the day.

Is anyone complete at UMD yet? I haven't heard a peep from them... and my LORs were sent in a few weeks ago.

got a letter saying that my app had been processed an the 27 of aug. I have not heard anything since. 😕 i guess i'll just have to wait it out! 😴

i thought that their first interviews are at the end of Septmeber. If it is right than somebody should have already received their interview. Does anybody know anything? I'm a CA resident, what about Maryland residents-those should be interviewed first I would guess?!

I haven't heard of anyone with UMD interviews yet. And I'm a MD resident.... so are most of my friends. Maybe UMD will send out non-ED interview invites next week?
