Accepted Tufts and UMD next year and also waitlisted at UVA. I'm not sure what the prestige difference is like between UMD and Tufts and if ranking is a factor I should consider. I'm also not sure if I should be planning for getting off the waitlist at UVA or not, but I'm going to include that in my pros and cons so let me know what you think!
Tufts
Pros
- Really liked the student body/ faculty and they seemed to be balance
- More clinical focus
- Pretty good match list
- P/f
- Boston is awesome
- 1.5 year preclinical
Cons
- Far from family
- Really expensive
- Lowest rank of the other options
UMD
Pros
- switching to p/f next year then tiered p/f after that for the first time
- Cheaper bc out of state but could probably get in state after first year
- students and faculty were nice
- closer to home and baltimore has more central location
- higher ranked of the 2 schools
Cons
- Not true pass fail
- Don't like the location in baltimore
- Out of state in a state school (not sure if its a con??)
- Not sure about match list (think Tufts is probably better)
UVA (waitlisted)
Pros
- IS so same price as UMD (after switching to in state)
- 1.5 yr preclinical
- good match list
- good name/ best rank
Cons
- Location is too small (prefer urban)
- Undergrad institution so want a change for the next 4 years
Any insight into how to factor in being waitlisted in this decision would really help too, thanks all!
