hey guys,

just wanted to know what everybody's general opinion about this school is. I was one of the 20+ students who attended the interviews this saturday, jan 28 06. Was anybody else there this past weekend? Overall I was quite impressed with the faculty and admission's staff friendlines, the brand new campus and dorm rooms next door, as well as my interview. It was a very short and to-the-point interview. I almost got the impression that I was already accepted, and the interviewer was simply going over what to expect at the program. If anybody wants to add any further feedback or general opinions about the Mass Colg. of Pharmacy - Worcester, please post here...

Whatsup DoctorAJ. I interviewed sometime during the winter break. Similarly, my interviewer had gone over what to expect... which is probably a good sign for you because I got an acceptance the following Monday (My interview was on a Thursday.). Although some people may say Worcester is a lame little town, I thought it was so cute and fun and I liked it over there. I enjoy the overall vibe of the Northeast and I think it would be a fabulous change from having lived in southern CA my entire life. I totally agree with you on the staff's friendliness! The school is so new and crisp with state-of-the-art facilities. What else... oh I really like that some students have been kicked out of the program for unprofessional behavior since I'm all about professionalism  . The dorms on the upper floor of the College are absolutely fabulous and I hope I get one. Seems like it would be in high demand though.

For those of you who have been to Worchester, how do you like the city? I'm currently living in Missouri and have been told about safety issues with the town as well as a lack of things to do. Also, did Worchester seem like it would be a fun place to go to school (meaning do the students seem social at all, or did they seem like they didn't have many relationships with other students) I have heard many weird things concerning this. Finally- and I know this is a dumb question- how far is it from Boston? and is there a commuter train or anything? I'm going in a month to interview, so I'm just trying to get a better feel of the area- any help would be appreciated. Thanks
astevens

Yes there is a commuter rail. The ride is about an hour twenty minutes, but varies depending on how many stops the train makes. The station in Worcester is walking distance from the campus.

How many people do they interview per day at WORCESTER?

I am under the impression that they let you schedule it for when you can make it. They send you an invitation via postal mail and have you call them to schedule an interview. They had one on Saturday January 28th for out-of-state people who couldn't make it on a weekday. However I really wanted to go sooner than that. So I asked if I could come on a date 3-4 weeks before the 28th and they were happy to let me. I was the only one there interviewing.

If you get accepted to all schools that you applied, what school is your first choice?

I was so set on going to MCPHS after my interview there... but after my USC interview I was so sold on that school  . So USC is next, then MCPHS. I'd definitely choose MCPHS over Western and Mercer though. Where do you want to go?

I had my interview last thrusday and I had the impression that i am going to be accepted after my interview. I am waiting for my letter soon
good luck

My interview was last saturday, and they told me to expect to hear from them in about a week or two. Did they call you or did you get your acceptance by mail in a letter? And about the dorms, I think when the P3's leave they open up a lot of rooms for the P1's, because that building is only intended for MCPHS students as I understood it. I really hope to get in there. Like I said, during the interview it felt as if I was already accepted because it lasted only 20 minutes and I was only asked two very simple questions. Im getting anxious to hear their final decision 🙂

that's how I felt as well, primarily because it was such a short interview with the professor doing most of the talking. Is that why you feel that way too?

Yes... my interviewer told me I should hear back within the next couple of weeks of my interview. I interviewed on a Thursday and my acceptance letter came via postal mail on the following Monday. Haha it was postmarked on Friday. I think they act quickly if they really want you. The post you made totally reflects how my interview went. Two questions was all I got too: 1) Do you have any questions for us and 2) How was your experience working at Rite Aid Pharmacy. Hope you make it in :luck: ! Where are you from?

Im from Detroit, MI. Mail from Worcester Mass. usually takes a few days to get to Detroit Im guessing. Plus, my interview was on a Saturday, so if they followed the same format that they did for you, they should have postmarked mine's on Monday. Only problem is it's a week later and I have not yet received anything in the mail yet 😕 .... on a positive note, one of the admission's office representatives sent me an email Thrusday asking me if I have received the acceptance package yet. I emailed back telling them that I have not...Im taking a wild guess here, but that email is a pretty good indication that I was accepted, right? 🙂

Yes that is a good indication you were accepted, IMO... since the person asked if you "received the package YET," implying that you are going to get an acceptance package.

I live in Worcester, and am applying to MCPHS-Worc - I have an interview on Monday 🙂 I just wanted to comment about Worcester to anyone who might be interested. It is no Boston, but it isn't boring either. If all you like to do is party, then I would say Worcester isn't for you (I'd also say the accel. program isn't for you either 🙂 ). But Worcester has tons of great restaurants, museums, and cultural attractions. If you know where to look, there is tons of stuff to do in the central Mass area. A great website to check out is www.worcestermass.org. Keep in mind this only lists stuff in Worcester, not in the surrounding area.

As for crime, well, like every big city (remember that Worcester is the second biggest city in the state) there are areas that you know just from looking that are more dangerous. Hint: don't go there. MCPHS is in an area that is rebuilding and revitalizing, it is not dangerous. It is right next to the new convention center. I think it's important for anyone applying to the school to see it's location and makeup before accepting (I'm unaware if they allow phone interviews), because it's structure is unusual for a college. However, I think it's fabulous and HOPE I get in 🙂

Just my input; good luck to all 🙂

hey can u tell me about how is ur interview when u gonna go this monday to Worcester? =) thanks!

Hey it sounds like lot of people are interested this school. I actually have an intervew there on feb 27th. Do you think that is a little late, the way it sounds lot of people have already interviewd there and waiting on responses. I hope it isn't too late.
Does anyone have any advice for the interview or the essay you have to write. From the feedbacks i am not to worried about the interview, but the essay i am alittle worried about. How was the essay, if somebody doesn't mind telling me???
Well i really hope my interview isn't too late and i still have a chance of getting in.
My choice is pretty much going to be Temple vs MCPHS. That is if i get into both of them.
well good luck to everyone else.

Temple interview u yet? what ur PCAT?

I was actually in the first group they interviewed for this year (jan 30th), that is when started their interviews. It is five per group to one faculty.
MY pre-req GPA is 4.0 and had like 80th %ile on the PCAT.
I am just waiting for their reply, which i hear takes a really long time.
THey told us that people who had above 50th%ile and 3.2 or higher GPA got an interview. They had to have both of the requirments, just one is not enough.
Have you also applied to temple????
THey process takes a long time, so i wouldn't worry too much.

So like what kind of questions do they ask at the interview and how is the essay, i'm so nervous about them. 😕

the interview i had was very laid back and comfortable. They asked obvious questions like why do you want to be a pharmacist and why temple. The great news is there is NO essay. The PCAT covers that. So look forward to that.
I am telling there is nothing to be nervous atleast from what my interview was like. Just try to prepare for the obvious questions and you should be fine. Plus it is not one on one, there will be four other students with you, so that will help a little too. You can listen to their answers and then answers yours.
So just try to relax and if i can help in any way let me know.
GOOD LUCK

Hey, I thought they don't require PCAT. Is that really what they said because that's sort unfair if it's not a requirement? Does that mean that if I didn't take the PCAT I am not gonna get an interview and plus I applied at the deadline? that would suck

I think the last few posts are actually about Temple, not MCHPS.
