Hi
I am planning to join reserves Army Medical Corps under MAVNI program. To be honest I do not have much of military related knowledge in regards how things works etc etc.

I am IM board certified 3 years ago, currently working as a hospitalist.
I have few questions in regarding how things work with Army Medical Corps.

1) If I am IM certified and prefer to work as hospitalist, how they going to use me when it comes to deployment i.e as a hospitalist or primary care physician?

2) If I join reserves, with commitment of total 8 years ( 6 years of active reserves, 2 years of inactive reserves), I am allowed to change that to active duty 6months or year later?

3) If I consider for active duty later, how likely I will be placed where I want to be? I mean will I get option to pick the locations?

4) While in inactive reserves, do we still have to attend drills?

I hope some one can answer these questions

Thanks in advance.

It seems like you need to talk to a recruiter. And it needs to be a physician recruiter, not the average enlisted recruiter you see at the mall. Do some more research that way to start would be my recommendation.
