Volunteer experiences and what you've learned or derived from them are always good topics for possible interview questions, no matter what the program; so it's always good to have those experiences. In pharmacy, having worked as a tech or spending time shadowing pharmacists in a variety of settings will show your commitment to the profession. While volunteer experiences may not be asked about, you'll undoubtedly be asked about your experience in pharmacy either directly or indirectly ("Why do you want to be a pharmacist" or "What made you decide to become a pharmacist")
Sports should be possible during pharm school if you're ambitious enough. Heck, St. Louis College of Pharmacy has their own intercollegiate athletic department, I think Albany COP does too. In other words, it's not only the big universities and colleges that have athletic departments...smaller colleges of pharmacy have them too...
