Hello,

This is thread, for people who are interested in pursuing MBA as post graduation.I myself, finished my M.B.B.S,from a reputed institute in Bangalore,India.I want to crack GMAT and take up MBA in the coming year.Though I am bit unsure of it.I would request anyone who have the same career interests or who is finished MBA,to guide me

1.How would MBA(outside India or better B-school in India) degree help a medical graduate?Which companies would hire medical professionals with MBA in India?

2.Is doing MBA,post MD(Pharmacology)holds better career growth, considering +3 years of study or post MBBS?How would MD in Community Medicine help?

3.If we do get an admission in MBA Program in USA,then what are the chances of having a interview call, since in America,MD and MBA is dual degree?

4.The last one,I would request everyone to post their views, and make it useful thread for all

Thanks,

Best Regards,

Imo, if you are opting to go for MBA from abroad or reputed institutes in India (by that i mean IIMs or XLRI and the like ones) you should look beyond pharma companies. These institutes don't run tailormade courses suitable for any particular industry type. i don't think your undergraduate degree matters much once you complete your MBA.

hönestly i don't think it makes much of sense doing MBA after MD (PSM). More logical course would be doing masters in health/hospital administration or public health. As for MD (pharm), you are already working at a considerably higher level for pharma cos if you join them after your MD. Although I don't have much of exposure to what MDs do in pharma cos, but whatever I'd managed to learn tell me you become a high level MR. So a MBA wouldn't make much of a difference as such to your standing in Marketing department of a pharma co. But I wouldn't mind getting a nominal MBA in marketing from an ordinary institute or even a correspodence degree would do. There are few institutes who offer specialised courses in pharma business management which you may like to take if you want to specifically joing this sector, although your MD in pharma would do the job quite nicely.

i don't know about US but i've heard they prefer candidates with minimum two yrs work ex. Else, you must have extraordinary acads and extracurricular talents/achievements.
