Just curious to hear your opinions, but I?ve heard from my advisor that taking more than the minimum requirements is recommended before taking the MCAT (1 yr gen chem., o-chem, biology, etc). Does anybody agree with this? And if so, how can that be of any advantage if all the information you need is contained within the passage, which may perhaps even conflict with knowledge from coursework?? Seems like the MCAT would be based around the minimum requirements for most med schools instead of relying on advanced topics. Maybe my advisor thinks there?s no such thing as too much coursework ahead of time.

I don't think it's necessary, but it wouldn't hurt, as long as you brush up on the basic material for the MCAT. All it will probably do is give you increased practice in those areas, leading to greater familiarity/comfort/confidence/speed etc.
