Hi everyone,

I'm going to be a freshman in a b.s/m.d program this upcoming fall and was wondering what would be the best means of prepping for the MCATs? I've placed an order for the Examcrackers set, and decided on getting to work... but does anyone have any advice to offer me?

I know some people might say now is too early, but I'm a big believer in disciplined studying, the earlier the better...

So, what're some good books, courses, etc?

Thanks,
Neil

Hey Neil,

I still say you're thinking too far ahead of yourself. You don't take the MCAT until your junior year, and you still need to take the classes and learn what you need to know before you start worrying about studying for it!

It's really not as big a deal as some people make it out to be. You don't have to start studying two years in advance to do well. Plus you already have pretty much guaranteed admission to med school. RELAX! 🙂

I'm sure that's true, but there've got to be some books out there to supplant my coureses (and teach me more material).

I know I'm getting a jump start, but I figure if I start prepping an hour or two now (a year or two in advance), I 'd be best prepped for the exam - it worked with the SAT's (I recieved a near perfect score purly though hard work)..

Any advice?

really, i think the best thing you can do now is to ace your premed science classes. if you do that, then it just takes some hard work a few months before the test along with whatever test taking ability you have (obviously pretty high, in your case) in order to do well on the MCAT.

what do you need on the mcat to continue on in the bs/md program? i cant imagine this will be a problem for you.
