You're actually mixing up two reactions that cause the reduction of aldehydes and ketons to alkanes.

In the Wolff-Kisner reduction, the reagents H2NNH2 along with base and heat are used to make the alkane.

In the Clemmensen Reduction, however, the reagents Hg(zn) and HCl do the trick.
