I currently have myself scheduled for the July 26th MCAT date and I've been studying pretty steady for a little over a month using TBR and supplementing with some EK. I'm finding I'm getting about one section in a TBR book done per day and I'm generally scoring in the 9-11 range on each section's 50-100 questions post-section testing. I have not yet taken a diagnostic test and I still have a fairly good bit of the books to complete. I really want to get the MCAT over with, as studying for it has consumed my life far longer than I'd like.

I'm thinking of rescheduling to August 10th, which given my current schedule, would allow me to finish the books and take a few practice exams. My concern is as follows: How much will delaying until a September submission date (when the score is reported to AACOMAS) effect my chances of admission? I'm a DO candidate. I really want to do DO for personal reasons.

My AACOMAS GPA is as follows: Cumulative: 3.84 Science: 3.57. Good extracurriculars, former paramedic, one published work, and I should be wrapping up a DO recommendation in the next month.

I had a friend who just graduated from a DO program and he completed in late December, was wait listed, and eventually admitted. I'm hearing conflicting things from different people. Some are saying that it'll be a death blow, but others have said that DO admissions roll well into the next year with some schools not filling their completed classes until the spring. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Take a practice test, see how close you are to your target score and go from there.

Getting a good mcat in September (26+) is much better than getting a lower score earlier. Push the date back and make sure you are prepared.

yeah, luckily you have a great GPA...so being a bit later in the cycle isn't as big a deal for you.

Id also suggest tanking the time to hit your MCAT goal and you'll get the interviews..

Good luck! 👍

I agree with everyone. Take a FL in timed conditions and see where you stand. If things look good, continue with another FL and if you're consistent with your score and you feel like you're reaching your goal then go for the current date. But like they've mentioned before, you have a great shot at DO with your GPA so delaying the application till september (with a 26+ MCAT) will be ok for you.

Good luck on your MCAT.
