Just curious, for those who interviewed at MCW on Jan 11, have any of you gotten your acceptance/waitlist/rejection letters?

Accepted today. I live only a mile or two from MCW...so you might have a couple days yet. I didn't feel that my interviews went particularly well, but apparently they were good enough.

I wish you luck!

WOOOHOOO!!!!
I got in! I live in Madison, so the mail ususally only takes a day or two. This is my first acceptance, and my top choice school, so I am PSYCHED!!!!!!

 :D  :D  :D  :D

Congrats!! was it a big package that arrivedin the mail? MCW is my #2 choice!

Thanks!
No, it was a regular-sized letter, but it was thick...I could tell on my porch this afternoon that it wasn't a rejection. (I had promised to open it over dinner with friends.) Lots of stuff about technical details, but at this point, even that stuff has become interesting to me because it means that I'm really going to be a doctor!!!
Good Luck to you, moo, let us know how it comes out for you!

Hey Shannon,

Congratulations on your MCW acceptance! I believe that I am in the same position as you are with an MCW acceptance and the alternate-list at UW-Madison. I was just curious, if you are offered an acceptance at UW-Madison, have you decided which school you will attend next fall? I have not decided which one I would attend (if I get off the wait-list at UW), and I was wondering if you were leaning one way or the other. I had a wonderful experience when I interviewed at MCW. Again, congratulations!

Dusty

Hey Dusty,
Congrats to you, too! You are right, we are in the same position. From what I have seen, I am leaning towards MCW...I had such a great interview experience there, and I keep thinking that if I lean towards a peds specialty, CHOW is the place to be. Other than that, my BF is in Madison, but I am trying not to let that influence any forthcoming decision I may have.
I don't know, I just felt so much more important at the MCW interview than at Madison. It seems silly, but I think it's a function of there not being an undergrad institution associated with MCW...they're there to focus on us and help us. The facilities were awesome, too.
Let me know what your thoughts on all this are.
Good Luck! Shannon

What kind of stats do you need to get into MCW?? I really want to go there, and I am a junior who took the August MCAT and is wondering whether I need to take it again in April. Do you guys mind sharing your numbers??

I have a 3.45 GPA and a 32 MCAT.

Hey Shannon--I think we sat by each other at lunch at MCW. You seem to be the new queen of MCW, at least on this board ;)

In any case, I live in Wisconsin and just got my acceptance letter from MCW today, so if anyone out-of-state hasn't gotten theirs, its probably will be there within the next couple days.

I really liked the school, but, errrr, I probably won't go there. I am sure you guys will have fun though!

Where will you attend, Dylan?

UWguy--

I was accepted at Case Western Reserve, and I really liked the place and setup. I really want to go there, but the cost . . . . I will have to take a good look at the aid package before signing on, but that is where I want to go. Maybe if Mayo accepted me, I might consider going there, but I have my heart set on Case. MCW was pretty cool though--you guys have a good time for me.

3.72/33Q

I really liked MCW... it was one of the few schools that just gave me a good vibe from the beginning to the end of the whole process... they really took care to make sure all my prereqs were there (i remember beingon the phone with sharon carpenter for the longest time cuz they thought my coursework didn't satisfy their requirements)

Hey Shannon,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about where you would probably attend next fall. At MCW, I was really impressed with the facilities and felt like they really wanted me to go there. The hospitals that students spend their clinical years in are excellent. The students appeared to get along great, and they were really friendly.

On the other hand, UW has a great reputation, and everyone says how much they love living in Madison (I am not doing my undergrad at UW). I am basically still undecided, but you really can't go wrong either way.

What coursework was MCW giving you grief over, Moo?

Well at my school, all science courses count as 3 credit hours, regardless of whether they had a lab or not. So essentially, even though I had a year of gen chem and organic with their respective labs, I only had 12 "graded credits" according to MCW, and I needed 16. They eventually accepted my biochemistry to substitute for the missing chemistry credits, so it wasn't a problem. Same thing with biology... I only have 6 credits on my transcript for biology, even though I took all the labs... but I had also taken genetics so they counted that so I had a total of 9 credits which is one more credit than what they required.

Wait, moo, u said MCW was your #2nd choice? didn't you get interviewed at columbia?! so how the heck is this school ur 2nd choice....

Hey Dylann, I am sure the possibility that we sat with each other at lunch is huge. Now I'm racking my brain to try and remember who was at that table....

I don't know about the queen of MCW... :p
It feels awesome to be accepted, though. Good Luck with Case Western!!

Dusty,
UW hasn't shown me any love so far....I've been on their waitlist for the past few months. I do go here for undergrad, and the city is great, I could truly see myself living here for the next few years (or more!) if given the choice. But I've heard rumors that they're trying to cut down teh number of their own that they accept....who knows? I would spend a very happy four years at MCW, either way though.
