So I just got an interview from Med College Wisconsin. It specifically said that it was for an alternate spot and that each year they take people from this alternate spot.

I guess this is kind of encouraging.....but at the same time, not really. Does anyone know how many people make this alternate list or how many people they take off of it? Any info would be great. Thanks.

Are you a Wisconsin resident or are you an out-of-state-student?

I am out of state. And the thought of $250 for airfare doesn't sound very exciting if I'd only be interviewing for a chance to wait.

I had an interview for the alternate list last year, but I am a Wisconsin resident. There are two waitlists, one for in-staters and one for out-of-staters. The in-state list didn't move much (~5 spots). I don't know the exact number of people who moved off of the OOS list. I do know that the OOS list moves more than the in-state liste because a lot more OOS people with acceptances to MCW will withdraw from the school than will Wisconsin residents with acceptances.
So, you still have a decent shot at getting in, but if you already hold multiple acceptances and you're not very interested in MCW, you might be better off saving the $250. MCW is a great school, though, and from what I have seen and heard most people enjoy their time at the school.

That's odd, I didn't know that they pick who they interview for thier alternate list. I just got my invitation today but it was for a spot in the class.......I will not be going since they took forever and a half, and I don't think that I would go there even if accepted. Hopefully that spot goes to someone who really wants it, best of luck to you!

Yeah, I thought it was a bit odd that they specifically said they were interviewing for placement on our Alternate List. But since I have no acceptances at this point, I suppose its better than the alternative (which is nothing).

I know I will most likely not go to MCW, and I have an acceptance there. This opens 1 spot for OOSers!! :luck:

If you don't mind sharing, what did you like/dislike about MCW?

They fill the class on a first-come, first-served basis. The waitlist sometimes sees a lot of movement, so I'd strongly consider going to that interview. My student tour guide said she was told she was interviewing for the waitlist, and she got in (OOS).
