1) In-state for Mizzou (20k cheaper tuition but after one year in Wisconsin I will also be in-state).

2)Rural Missouri vs Milwaukee city

3)Mizzou class size 98, MCW = 200ish.

4) Mizzou average step score is 240.

5) Does anyone know a good source to find out which is ranked higher?

Mizzou's class size is larger than that. It was 128 last year, but with state budgeting uncertainty they don't know the class size. It'll likely be over 100. Also, what specialty do you want to go into? Look into home residency programs at both.

Missouri is ranked by US News (https://www.usnews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-medical-schools/university-of-missouri-04059) in both research and primary care, while MCW is unranked (https://www.usnews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-medical-schools/medical-college-of-wisconsin-04125) if that's something you're heavily considering. As a side note, I would definitely check with MCW regarding the idea that you would be considered in-state after the first year. I had a friend who went to college in WI and tried to apply as a Wisconsin resident; however, Wisconsin has a weird law where they don't consider you a state resident if you're only moving to the state for the purpose of education. Not sure if this would also apply to medical school. My vote is for Missouri.

MCW ranked consistently in the 50-55 in the past years. It's just this year that they didn't submit their information to US News hence unranked. On U.S. News there's a big difference between "unranked" and "RNP" (rank not published). RNP is the bottom quartile of med schools while unranked is simply when the school doesn't submit the information to US News.

MCW is private, resident/non-resident pays the same tuition schedule. You get no break by becoming Wisconsin resident.

I would go with Mizzou. I lived in Columbia for 6 years, it does not feel 'rural' at all (except for having a bad airport). Vibrant cultural scene and a great place to live.

Wisconsin residents do get a slight break in tuition to the tune of several thousand dollars per year. It's not the same break IS students get at their public institutions, and it's definitely not going to be the 20k break OP will get by going to Mizzou
