*sight*..so depressing isn't it? :( What's your rank Einstein?

hi, since we could call on may 23, my rank moved up only 2 slots, from 74 to 72..., if that helps anybody, information-wise. :)

Hey sneezy!

Congrats! when did you find out? and do you know if the entire list shifted up two? I am 34 and am very anxious to hear..

bump..hope this is bothering anyone.

hi maple,

I am assuming the entire list shifted up 2, since we are actually given numerical ranks. I figure they're just taking people off the top one by one.

Good luck to you Maple. Have you been accepted elsewhere?

anyway, be sure to let us know when you get an acceptance to MCW. :)

Hey Sneezy,

Thanks for the nice words! :) :) Yes, I've been accepted to Chicago Medical. I liked it there..but MCW is definitely my top choice. So...pretty anxious hre..since CMS begins late july..and once you attend orientation..you are automatically withdrawn from all other schools! :( I'll definitely post if I here anything.

Good luck to you too.

bump..anyone?

Maple....see you July 22nd at Orientation.
and you have a few more days AFTER orientation before the mysterious AUTOmatic withdrawal from the wait list lottery. you have to fill out some kinda AMCAS survery as a M1 on the cpu. i heard taht once you hit the mouse click on that, then ou seal your doom at Whakegan. i think you have to do it to get your student ID. but...you don't really need your student ID. so...you can refuse to fill that survey out (as i will refuse to do...esp since i have a student ID already).

I remember how it feels like to be on the waiting list. I was in the same boat last year. I called on the DAY and found out I was #2 on the waiting list. Two weeks later I was STILL #2. I began to get nervous and asked why the waitinglist is moving so slowly? The person I talked to told me that they wanted to wait till more slots to open and send out a massive number of acceptance letters! So in theory I was already accepted a few days after the waitinglist was compiled. It's just since they hadn't sent out letters, the computer did not readjust my position on the waiting list. So DON'T WORRY!

Oh, another thing, my roommate was #60ish on the waiting list and got accepted. I think he told me that he got his acceptance letter in mid june (and so did I!) Another friend of mine got his acceptance 3 days before the orientation!

Thanks Arukas! :) That does help. I can't believe that you and your friend (some 50 spots aprat!) heard around the same time! I hope you're right about the computer not being updated timely. I am just afraid that this year things are moving slower then anyothr due to AMCAS fiasco..and so things may be delayed even more. It also doesn't help that my other school(CMS) begins mid-july! :( Still...I am going to hold hope as long as I can.

Thanks for posting your experience. :)

From reading the AMCAS rules, I understood that as soon as you attend any other school's orientation/registration(takes place on the ist day for most schools?) you are withdrawn from all other spots you maybe considered for. I don't know if registration is the same as the survery you mentioned. Thanks for the info though.

Concerning that mysterious AAMC survey--while it might be a "sneaky" way to disqualify you for waiting lists at other schools, I know there were two people in our class that ended up going to other schools after they had attended orientation here (their instate schools). Another one was still on the waiting list at his instate school all the way until Sept 20th (more than 6 weeks into our semester) before he found out he didn't get in there.

So, while it wouldn't be fair to another deserving student, it is theoretically possible to start at one school and then start at another (you will, though, lose half a year's tuition!).

Maple, have no fear! You'll be in soon enough!

i think it's that "mysterious" survey that does it. else, every med school would have to submit attendance sheets (a la elementary school), and they would have to process all the attendance sheets from diff schools. i swear....the internet is BigBrother. soon as you double click your survey, it's over!

rumor at CMS goes...someone filled out the survey with reluctance....and next day, BAM!, accepted off the UCLA waitlist, but could not go. how heinous is that?

and i think that most schools take their slow ass time to notify people that they are NOT accepted off the waitlist. i think NYMC notified me super late...even though i knew already b/c their classes had already begun.

anyways....

FYI..MCW will be sending out "quite a few" acceptances towards the end of this week (Thursday?/Friday?)..so call early next week to see if you moved! Good Luck guys! :)
