What's the deal here?
I hear about people applying to dental, podiatric, or optometry school simply because they weren't accepted into allopathic or osteopathic medical school.
I would probably understand such applicants IF they were applying to other types of professional schools because they liked the work equally, but instead I hear about people who apply to schools of dentistry, optometry, or podiatry simply because they couldn't get into MD/DO school. In the future, I envision lots of unhappy dentists, podiatrists, and optometrists simply because they chose another profession to replace the one that they originally wanted.
Or maybe I don't really understand the situation at all. Will somebody brief me on the issues?
