Whatsup guys,

Now that we've had a bit of experience with this process, do you think it's tougher to get into MD or MD/PhD programs? At least in California, it seems like it's easier to get into the MSTP programs? Do you think this is because most people don't like the 8+ year commitments?

If you just look at acceptance rates, then it appears that MD/PhD programs are easier to get in to. But think about it...it's self-selected. The average stats for MD/PhD matriculants (MCATs, GPA), not to mention the research experience.

This question is asked occasionally in the MSTP forum. I'll see if I can find the most recent thread about it.

md/phd programs are most definitely not easier to get into.
