First post ever guys and I would really appreciate some sort of advice.
Texas Resident
URM
State School
75 hours Oncology Clinic Volunteer
70 hours helping register members of my community for the Bone Marrow Registry (strong ties to this cause)
35 hours volunteering at my old high school sports program (after I graduated)
30 hours shadowing
1,000+ hours laboratory research at my college
HHMI sponsored summer internship at well known cancer treatment center
Premedical summer internship at Texas medical school
President of an Honor society
Member of various leadership clubs
Traveled outside the country through a school program

I'm on the fence about whether I should apply to 3 MD/PhD programs in Texas and the rest MD. I'm just worried that doing this will weaken my chances of getting in anywhere due to my low MCAT. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If you're interested in a research career, you could consider the Md/PhD programs. Your mcat is not competitive, but if your research is strong, that may help.
Also, mdphd programs are less regionally selective. Therefore, you should apply to those that have labs that interest you, rather than programs in Texas (unless the Texas programs fit this criteria).
