I wanted to see if there were people (besides me) who want to pursue a PhD in bioinformatics/computational biology. For example, I want to apply metabolic modeling to human diseases, and/or to physiology (eg modeling of circulatory system). How does this combination sounds?

Any thoughts will be appreciated... ;)

Harvard-MIT HST (through MEMP, MSTP, or otherwise) has a Bioinformatics and Integrative Genomics program that you might be interested in. Try http://hst.mit.edu.

We have a number of mentors inside of two grad groups that do this kind of work here at Penn. Two of my classmates are interested in this kind of work, and are sort of trying to feel out what's available, both for mentors and grad groups.

I'm doing an MD and a PhD in computer science. There are several programs with quantitative PhD options. It's a fun combo, and worth pursuing.
