Hello! I was hoping to get some feedback on my school list. Thank you in advance!

MCAT: 520
GPA: 3.98

State: CA
Ethnicity: ORM
Undergrad: UC

Clinical:
  • misc. hospital positions, health fairs, caseworker (+ leadership): ~350 hours
    • Side note: one of my clubs is split between half clinical and half nonclinical (did not include 100 hours in the above number because patients were not present for this aspect) --> If I wanted to list both my clinical and nonclinical hours for this one activity, would I just sum the total hours and then differentiate the different hours in the description box?
Research:
  • Basic science lab: ~900 hours
    • one publication, 2 abstracts, a couple of posters/presentations
Non-Clinical:
  • couple of service orgs (camp counselor, serving the homeless): ~600 hours
  • sustainability project (+ leadership):~250 hours
Shadowing:
  • ~100 hours
Employment:
  • Tutor: ~150 hours
Extracurriculars
  • Editor of health magazine, leadership: ~300 hours
  • TA: ~300 hours
  • Design intern for US Gov: ~100 hours
  • Concert Band: ~200 hours
Honors/Award
  • None, unless you count Dean's List?
Most commitments were held for at least one year!

PS: sufficient? I didn't have anything extraordinary, but I had some med students read over it.
LORs: strong
Interview skills: on the weaker side

Family members in medicine: Yes

Specialty of Interest: Undecided

Graduate Degrees: None

Interest in Rural Health: No

Thank you again!

You could definitely choose where you want to go. Make sure you get a sense of student support at each school you want to attend. I can't tell if you have done much when it comes to immersing yourself in the concerns of vulnerable populations for a committed period of time.
