Anyone know of any MD schools that latinos / hispanics, or even URM in general have a better shot of getting into? List them please

Thank you fam

pretty much all, and there are some historically black schools that prefer URM applicants.

Morehouse, Howard and Meharry are known as historically black colleges, their prime mission is to increase the number of minorities in healthcare so they all have a heavy preference for minorities.

And just speaking off of anecdotal experience (so take it with a grain of salt) I noticed schools on the east coast especially near heavily populated cities, tend to favor minority applicants. Ones that come to mind are BU and Harvard in boston, SUNY's in nyc, JHU in baltimore both of the UMDNJ's and Cooper in nj are big on diversity as well. Compared to other schools in the south and central america, they don't seem to favor diversity as much as the schools mentioned above. I can only speak on behalf of the east coast because that's where I am from though, but its just something I have noticed.

based on my experiences through close friends I can +1 to this and if you look at the DO school in new york for example, they recruit a lot of URMs

Ok thank you, i have do research a bit on the schools you mentioned. I just want to make sure and include any and all schools i have a shot at in my application. My stats are decent, about average for most schools, so i was curious if being URM really bumped up my chances at any particular schools thank you.

look at the stickied thread in what are my chances, being AA or Latino severely bumps up your chances.

Thanks yes I've seen and understand that, I am wondering if my chances are "bumped" more at any schools in particular👍

Do you think it will still be bumped next year if the supreme court rules out AA this month? I'm not trying to put all my dependance on urm status I definitely have confidence that I can get in even if I was Asian lol, but I'm applying next year and if we don't get that same bump we've been getting I might have to change which schools I want to apply to. And I'm definitely gonna need to get FAP lol.

And I don't mean to hijack your thread OP I just don't want to start a new thread that may cause another AA debate.

yeah itll stull be bumped up, and I doubt AA will ever get ruled out for a long time.

Check out University of Arkansas Medical Schoo (UAMS)l. They recently came down to our border town region down in south Texas along with Latino Medical Student Association LMSA to recruit. They seem highly interested.

In state tuition is about 20,000
Out of state is about 40,000
As a minority....reduced to nearly In State tuition.
Check em out at www,uams.edu

Also San Antonio is famous for this type of student body. However, they prefer recruiting students from the South Texas region.

University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health appreciates diversity and highly recruits minorities.

do you guys think dartmouth is a minority friendly school? I know that have a decent amount in each class so do you think they accept a lot of URM since dartmouth isn't the greatest location? thanks.

It's funny you mention that because I was just looking at the MSAR today and I noticed Dartmouth has A LOT more minorities in their class than I would have thought they did especially since the location isn't amazing.

I can't definitely say that they actively recruit minorities because I've never been interested in the school so I never looked into it at all but looking from their statistics, it seems like they do 👍

I also know that The Commonwealth Medical College is looking to recruit more URMs. Good luck!

do you think letter of intent are especially helpful for competitive URMs at some of the school that tend not to have a low number of minorities? thanks.
