I'm not sure if the pathologists who botched the lab results was an MD or DO but it doesn't really matter...

THIS kind of thing happens, not that its acceptable at all but just as easily as someone can get a misdiagnose of TB, someone can unnecessarily lose both breasts...

It doesn't take a pathologist to make this mistake.

Think of all the people who handled the specimen from time of extraction to actual examination.

In this case the path may have been responsible, but unfortunately there are similar mistakes every day in every hospital...by all kinds of caregivers.

It is truly unfortunate that in this case, the ramifications of the misdiagnosis were so serious and life-altering for this woman and her family.

Unfortunately we are in a business where mistake can, and often do, hurt people.

Humbling.
