Hi all. I just got back from a family event, and thought I would share with you an interesting fact told to me by my uncle.

Up until recently, my uncle had served for seven years as the President of a regional examining board, and he currently sits on the admissions committee and one school, and several other academic committees at other schools.

He said that this past cycle he had 22 students who already had MD degrees, sit for the regional board exam. He said this trend has been increasing year by year, but he had never seen so many physicians at one time attempting to switch to dentistry.

Of course the grass may always appear greener on the other side, but this fact should tell us something about the benefits of our profession -- we are all preparing to enter a fantastic profession!

Hi,

Did you ask your uncle about the age of those 22 students ?
They could be retired MDs who do not want to spend a fortune on their dentures/dental fees and wisely switching to a field for self care :D <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

Sure!...that is a benefit...I would consider switching to dental after my retirement

Dentists fees are ridiculous nowadays

Is that all an MD needs to do to add dentistry to their repertoire is pass a regional exam?

Margaret :D

I'm glad that I'm into dentistry too. I have thought about my career choice over and over again for the last 4 years and I still believe that I have made the right choice.
