Please post any interview invites. It'll be nice to see what programs are offering them at any given moment as well as to see where everyone is headed. I saw a couple people post in the ERAS forum but I thought it would be most appropriate to have our own stomping ground. :)

For me, I have only received a notice from Indiana University indicating that they received my materials and will be reviewing my application shortly.

Best wishes to my future colleagues!

My application right now only has 2 LORs without the transcript. I am wondering how much a factor the transcript will be to other programs I applied to because I do not think mine will be uploaded anytime soon :oops:/

for rochester I had two letters of rec and all else. for michigan, i had four letters in.

I have 3 of 4 letters in, and everything else in for University of Michigan.

I submitted my application on Wednesday 9/26. I am still missing 2 LOR, both from Medicine. So far I have heard from:

UMass
Tufts (Baystate)
Nebraska
Ohio State
Christiana Care-Dupont Childrens'
Louisville
USC-LAC
Pitt (UPMC) :D

I've probably applied to too many places, but I did not want to have any regrets about the Match.

btw, does anyone know if UCLA 'really' requires LORs from a medicine and peds clerkship director? This seems like a strange requirement given that most students do not personally work with the clerkship director. I'm going to give them a call to confirm this.

I contacted Christiana Care about their requirement of needing three letters from people you have 'worked closely' with, and they told me that two such letters plus Chair's letters are fine.

Hello,
I submitted my ERAS this past Saturday and I was wondering how long it took people to hear from med-peds residencies for interviews in the northeast like Baystate or Maine Medical Center.

I should not have waited so long to submit my ERAS but I was doing a pedsAI last month and wanted to make sure med-peds is what I really wanted to apply too. Hope it is not too late as I have just heard back from one program that is at the bottom of my list.

Any advice appreciated,
mm

there was a little less than a week before Baystate got back to me. Its hard to say when programs download stuff and get back to you.

So i'd just sit tight and relax. Its still early in the process.

Believe me, I feel your stress about this whole hurry up and wait game. But being that I have only heard from 3 out of the 17 places I applied to and I sent my application in early September--I think you are fine having submitted your application on Saturday. At my school, we were told that other specialties are really compulsive about timing of applications (ENT, ortho, and the early match ones), but I do not think that is true of Med-Peds or any primary care specialty (Forncroj and all the other Med-Peds gurus, correct me if I am wrong). I think you are lucky to have heard from one program so close to when you submitted--you must be a great applicant :D

i've emailed and telephoned UCLA multiple times about this LOR requirement without any response, so I hunted down my clerkship directors, introduced myself to them after our 1 year contact hiatus, and convinced them to write me a LOR. So, if you hear elsewise, i would LOVE to know!
thanks.

mibawa, I got an e-mail response back from UCLA last week. The director said if you cannot obtain a letter from the clerkship director, a chair's letter can substitute. If you don't have a chair's letter, you can send a letter from another attending you worked with. I sent them Chair's letters plus letters from attendings I worked with during my AIs (one happens to be the clerkship director). I have not heard anything else from them yet.

medpedsisme, I don't have my medicine chair's letter in yet. However, the other 3 letters have been submitted.

How much time are most of you taking off to interview?

As of now, I have the month of December off, and the last week of November free. I am realizing now though that it may be difficult to schedule interviews in just December. I was hoping to do a rotation in Jan away and wanted interviews already done.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

i took off the 4 weeks before christmas and have scheduled interviews starting the last week of next block (a consult service). so most interviews will be before christmas. and, if a big name program comes through in January, then i'll take a day or 2 off. I assume the vast majority of medschools will understand, as long as you don't go overboard.

to the UCLA person, did they say when they were planning on sending out invites?

Hey guys... New to the forum, but I have been lurking for a while and just gathering information. You guys are very helpful and seem to really have your pulse on Med-Peds programs across the country. I'm happy to join you guys...

Interviews so far:
Albert Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia, PA
Ohio State
Penn State Hershey
UMass
Christiana/DuPont
Geisinger (Danville, PA)

Still waiting to hear from more programs considering I have been paranoid and applied to 25 programs...

w/ UMDNJ

Has anyone heard positively or negatively from the following programs:

Vanderbilt
Baylor
UCLA
UCSD
Penn
Harvard x 2
Brown
Yale
Mt. Sinai
UNC
Duke

I have not heard anything from them, although I am missing a medicine chair's letter and it is still somewhat early. Nevertheless, these are fairly competitive med-peds programs and I anticipate rejections from some of them. Word has it that Penn has sent out rejections already.

i havent heard anyone talk about any of them accept/reject, and i applied to all but Penn/CHOP

i know 2 things. UCSD and Brown's websites specifically state about the interviews being sent out later than now...(dont remember dates exactly)

and that Duke didnt even download any portion of my application (a complete app minus the Dean's letter) until recently....

i hope 2 hear positively about a few of them soon though, but i have enough interviews that i confident i'll match and be happy where i match...maybe next week????

I applied to all those also except Baylor and Vandy....and thus far no news.

My letters are also not in yet, so i'm not sure if its cause they are waiting for a complete application or i just didnt' make the cut, or what.

thanks johnnywalker for the added info.

hmm..its not even begun, and things are getting blurry....programs, places, airline tickets.

also...does anyone know about st. vincents in manhattan?

And 05-06

Hopefully this gives a rough idea of when interviews are usually offered by some of the places we haven't heard from yet.

applied there 2, and no word ....

yeah, the plane tickets thing is sorta a pain. gets expensive. but if/when, for example, UCLA comes through....Southwest.com here i come, part of the game i suppose

oh well, continuing to wait....
