Hello,
I'm 29 years old, married, and have 3 children, ages 9, 6, and 3. My hopes are to wrap up my bachelor's at IU, do a post back a couple years after my youngest goes into kindergarten, and then attempt to go to medical school. What makes me nervous is that I won't be a good mother and wife to my family. I understand that there will be times that I may not see them the way we would like, go to an activity, not make dinner etc., but I just don't want it to be a life where this is all the time. Of course I want to be the way to help with homework, make breakfast and dinner, watch movies, go to their events etc, so it naturally makes me nervous when I hear people say that my family will never see me. Using the word "never" is a pretty strong word, in my opinion. Like I said, I understand that there may be times when I can't be there, but I can't imagine that I would just be completely absent. 3rd year and intern year during residency is what makes me nervous the most. I would love to hear what some parents did in medical school, especially with older children. Our 3 year old is our last, as my husband got a vasectomy. If anyone has any insight on how their children felt during the process, that would also be great. Whatever advice or insight that can be given will be great. By the way, my husband is very supportive, is an engineer and makes decent money, and is willing to do what he can. Thanks for any comments!
