Hey there,

I'll be having my first set of exams next week: Anatomy, Histology, and Biochem. I am freaking out because I only have 4 more days to study Anatomy and even that seems too short. Plus, I have some things to attend this weekend so that'll cut about 6-9 hours out of my study time.

I never thought of myself as the type to panic, and yet here I am...it's hard not to panic when passing is 70%, our class average on quizzes has been above 90%, and I just recently failed a quiz. I feel like I am understanding the material, just not having enough time to study every single detail they ask.

Does anyone else feel as though they are so much slower at learning this stuff than their classmates? I feel like I'm studying every day, and yet I just don't seem to retain info as well as most people. It also just takes me so much longer. 🙁

Anyway, thought I'd start some sort of support group for venting. Feel free to ask for or give advice. And of course, best of luck with exams coming up!!

Exam week is next week for us as well. It sucks because I feel so unprepared for it despite studying fairly hard and being attentive in class. What makes it worse is that I've met classmates who are repeating their first year and they are studious people, so it scares me that just studying hard may not allow me to pass. Time also seem to fly so quickly. I've just gone over some of the brachial plexus nerves and poof! An hour just went by. Yeah, can't offer any advice except to say that most people do pass med school, so just keep hacking at it. 🙂

Anatomy was last week. Histo tomorrow. Good luck on your exams, I am just happy mine are almost over. Advice? I dont know what to tell you.

Hang in there 🙂 Soon it'll be over and you'll hardly remember these moments, seeing how fast the time goes by when you're super busy.

Back for some more !😎

Biochem was Friday, Histo was yesterday, and Anatomy is Friday.
Every time I feel like I have a handle on anatomy, someone brings up something that makes me feel like I'm not as on top of my stuff as I should be. It's frustrating...
I spent enought ime in the lab to be able to ID all the muscles, but I tried hard not to OD on lab time because that is only half the battle. Damn innervations...at least I don't have to be in the lab to study everything...they actually locked us out of it this morning to set up the test.
The worst part about it is we don't really get the weekend to recover because we have a practical exam Monday and written exam Wednesday for our Clinical course *shakes fist*
I know I know enough to pass anatomy at this point, but I know that there are other things I can/should be looking over, but at the same time, I don't want to psych myself out. Any tips?

i have my physiology exam on monday ... and still there seems to be a confusion on what are the portions for the exam!!

and anatomy is next saturday. i have reading anatomy whenever i get time in lab as others dissect.. i guess repetition has helped me quite a lot.

but havent even touched my physio text. i am totally depending on sat and sun. hope the test will be easy

and good luck to everyone....👍

Yeah the way my school tests is killin me . . . we have our writtens for embryology, anatomy and histo all on monday, and then our histo and gross practicles on tuesday . . . if it was just one of the classes it would be doable but this is overwhelming. I feel pretty good about gross, but I feel like I may fail the other two because it took so much freekin effort to be ok with gross . . . well I have 4 days to learn the entirety of embryo and histo, wish me luck!

We have multiple exams on one day too...which totally sucks. We do, however, have multiple exams for each course. So every two weeks we take 2 exams. It gets old after a while. Sometimes I wish we only had a few exams per semester just so I wouldn't have to deal with the constant stress.

hey i am premed....just wondering what do med students wear to class? i mean do they always wear a dress shirt/tie. or can you wear t-shirts/shorts?
are you serious with this??

um... really really not good. how about you?

Pretty terrible. I actually feel really behind for the first time this year. Kind of a low feeling if you ask me. Hopefully it'll all come together this weekend, because it sure as hell hasn't come together yet.

yeah i think this is the first time i have felt so overwhelmed. i don't even really know where to start. and it seems like i am the ony one who feel like it is getting so much harder. it seems like most people get it.

We had our first last week, just got the results back today. Did much better than I thought I would. Good luck to everyone, I'm sure you'll do fine.

I know what you mean, but I've talked to a bunch of people who are finally starting to feel overwhelmed too. I think it's definitely happening - there are just some people that aren't willing to admit it. That's my theory anyway.

   .........😱

Here at GW, we have a written and practical exam each for Anatomy, Histology and Neuro: tomorrow, Monday and Wednesday. I think I'll survive, but oh, do I loathe block examinations.

We have already had midterms, finals and now midterms on Monday for a whole new set of classes....it makes me sick that people are just now having their first exams (sick with envy of course). We have block exams-everything all at once, they even hand us all the exams at once..so no studying/cramming for 15 minutes in between different exams or anything. Exams definitely suck and I feel like we've had way too many for our 7th week of school!! 🙁

hey the flipside is having to know 6 weeks of stuff for one test, which is pretty ovewhelming . . . and having no idea where you stand because you haven't been tested yet. My first feel for it was a mock practicle this week, when I found out how much was really in my head I was soo shocked! I think either way this is overwhelming, at least with the way my school does it I get some weeks with more downtime/less stress. But I'm still a little wary that that much stuff will even fit into my brain😳

I am with you guys. After the monday exam I just screwed around for a few days and now I find myself in a huge hole. Gotta say, I really should have bit the bullet and done some work in the beginning. Funny that I always feel that way right before the test but after the test can never bring myself to do any work for a few days so the cycle just continues to get worse.
