A typical exam consists of 780 True / False questions. There are many double negatives and ambiguous clauses. It's terrible.

you're also given real patients who are on the verge of dying. You only pass if they're alive at the end of the day.
 
Most medschools make their exams resemble the step 1 which is multiple choice. They are choose the best answer which means more than one can be right which can be frustrating. Also alot of A&B or B&C or D or none of the above or all of the above which gets complicated. Practical exams can be fill in the blank in histology (look at a slide and tell them what you see) and anatomy (look on the cadaver and tell them what's tagged). I did have a makeup anatomy exam after getting very sick and the practical was oral and the written exam was essays!!
 
They are in game show format, and you can take the physical challenge if you don't know the answer.
 
Every school has it set up differently 1st and 2nd year. But I think a vast majority of schools use the NBME shelf exams for 3rd and 4th year.
